Privacy policy — GPX View
This policy describes how the GPX View application (the "Application"), published by Koverlord ("we"), processes information about you. It applies to the Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store) versions of the Application (identifier com.naboo.GPX).
Contact: [email protected]
1. General principle
The Application is a GPX/TCX track viewer and recorder. We do not operate any application server and hold no user account: your files, your recorded tracks and your preferences stay stored locally on your device.
However, to work and stay reliable, the Application relies on third-party services (mapping, diagnostics, audience measurement, purchases) that collect certain technical data. This policy details these processes precisely.
2. Data processed locally on your device
The following data is neither transmitted nor stored by us; it stays on your device and is deleted when you clear it or uninstall the Application:
- the GPX/TCX files you import;
- the outings you record, including your GPS position captured during a recording (precise and approximate);
- your preferences and settings (units, theme, etc.).
The location permission, including in the background, is used only to record your track during an activity. It is only requested at the time of use and is never used for advertising purposes.
3. Data automatically collected by third-party services
To display maps, ensure stability and improve the Application, the following providers collect technical data.
Mapbox
Mapbox, Inc. — United StatesData: coordinates of the area viewed / position, tile requests, technical device data.
Purpose: displaying maps.
Firebase Crashlytics
Google — United StatesData: crash reports, device model, OS version, application state, install identifier.
Purpose: detecting and fixing crashes.
Firebase Analytics
Google — United StatesData: usage events, device model, OS, language, approximate region (inferred from IP address), instance identifier.
Purpose: audience measurement and improvement.
Datadog RUM & Logs
Datadog — European Union, EU1 siteData: usage journeys and performance, technical logs, IP address (approximate geolocation), session/device identifiers.
Purpose: technical monitoring and reliability.
PostHog
PostHog, Inc. — hosted in the European UnionData: usage events and screens viewed, associated properties, device identifier, technical device information.
Purpose: analysis of usage journeys and conversion funnels.
RevenueCat
RevenueCat, Inc. — United StatesData: purchase history, receipt, anonymized user identifier, country, device information.
Purpose: managing purchases and subscriptions.
This technical data does not identify you by name. Each provider processes this information in accordance with its own privacy policy. We do not share any data with third parties other than those listed above, and we require them to provide a level of protection equivalent to that described in this policy.
4. In-app purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are handled exclusively by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), and tracked by RevenueCat. We never have access to your payment data (card number, bank details): it is managed directly by Apple or Google under their own terms.
5. Advertising and tracking
The Application does not run any advertising and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising purposes. No App Tracking Transparency consent prompt is therefore shown on iOS.
6. International transfers
Some providers (Mapbox, Google, RevenueCat) process data in the United States. These transfers are governed by the appropriate safeguards required under the GDPR (standard contractual clauses). Datadog data is hosted in the European Union.
7. Retention period
- Local data: kept until you delete it or uninstall the Application.
- Diagnostic and audience data: kept for a limited time by the relevant providers (as a guide, up to 90 days for crashes, up to 14 months for audience measurement).
- Purchase data: kept for as long as needed to manage your purchases and meet our legal obligations.
8. Your rights
In accordance with the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port and object to the processing of your data, as well as the right to withdraw your consent. To exercise it, write to us at [email protected]. You can also delete all local data by clearing the Application's data or uninstalling it. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr).
9. Children
The Application is not intended for children and does not knowingly collect data about them.
10. Security
We implement reasonable measures to protect the information processed and select providers that offer appropriate security guarantees.
11. The website
This website measures its audience with PostHog (hosted in the European Union): pages viewed, clicks and support form submissions. This measurement sets no cookie or tracker on your device and collects no data entered in the form (no message, no address, no name) — only the subject and platform chosen from the lists are counted. It also infers an approximate location from your IP address.
You can nonetheless opt out of this measurement; the choice is remembered on your device and takes effect immediately:
12. Changes
This policy may be updated. Any change will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
