Why reverse a track
Walk back the way you came
An out-and-back is most often published as the outward leg alone. The reversed track starts where you will turn round, so your device guides you home instead of announcing that you have arrived.
Ride a loop the other way
The same circuit changes face with the direction: a steep climb becomes a technical descent, the sun is in your eyes rather than on your back, and the water stop no longer falls in the same place.
Turn a track the right way round
A track published by someone who walked it in the opposite direction to yours starts at the wrong end. Reversing it is enough — there is nothing to redraw.
Kept: the path point by point, the elevations, the waypoints and the file's own breaks — not one kilometre is added or lost. Removed: the hours of passage, and with them the duration and the pace, which described an outing made in the other direction.

Frequently asked questions
- Is my file sent anywhere?
- No. It is read, reversed and written again by your browser, and never transmitted. You can cut your connection after the page has loaded: the reversal still works.
- Is the elevation gain the same in the other direction?
- No, and that is exactly why it is worth checking here. What went up now comes down: the gain of the way out becomes the loss of the way back, and the other way round. A track advertised at 200 m of climbing can hold 1,400 m in the other direction. The page shows the figures of the way back, not those of the original file.
- Why do the hours of passage disappear?
- Because they can no longer be true. Read backwards they have you arrive before you left; recomputed, they would describe an outing nobody made. A reversed track is a route to walk, and a route to walk carries no hour of passage. The distance, the elevations and the elevation gain are untouched.
- Does it work on a loop?
- Yes. A reversed loop leaves from the same place and ends there, simply turning the other way round. If you would rather start it from a different point, that is a different operation — one this site does not do yet.
- Are my waypoints kept?
- Yes, all of them, exactly where they are. They do not depend on the direction of travel: a water point stays where it is, your device will simply announce it in a different order.
- What if my file holds several segments?
- They are reversed too, both in order and inside: the last stretch of the way out is the first of the way back. Breaks stay breaks, and no straight line is drawn across them.
- Do I need an account?
- No, neither here nor in the app. There is no account to create, so nothing to remember and nothing to delete.
